On Sunday 25 April, Punashcha School of Rabindra Sangeet held a virtual celebration, one of many in the past year, to celebrate Rabindra Jayanti and Nobo Borsho. Students starting from the youngest to the more senior and members all sang and shared poetry and excerpts from Tagore’s writing. It was lovely to see the people associated with the school virtually as we cannot yet get together physically.

The second half of the day featured special guests Manisha and Manoj Murali Nair, esteemed Rabindra Sangeet artists, who joined in with their melodious voices from Kolkata and sang beautifully for all the participants.

We are honoured that they could take time from their busy schedules and give us this experience which we will all cherish.
A few words from a member of the audience, watching from Kolkata, about this programme:
At a time when we all are going though an unprecedented crisis of COVID-19 pandemic that is plagued by a new normal of restrictions, lockdowns, social distancing and uncertainty, we at Kolkata were fortunate enough to witness an amazing, astounding, wonderful and soulful musical performance by the legendary duo of Manoj Murali Nair and Manisha Nair.
This evening will be forever etched in our memory for a long time to come. Today’s evening was not just a musical evening, it was an evening which once again filled our hearts with joy, hope, love and enthusiasm.
Like all good things come to an end, the evening also came to a close and I was left craving for some more. At the end of it I remembered one of the numerous invaluable quotes put forward by the great Rabindranath Tagore which goes as: “It is very simple to be happy, but it is very difficult to be simple.”
Would like to extend my heartfelt thanks, gratitude, and deepest regards to Mrs. Shyamali Basu for making me a part of the evening. I wish you the very best for all your future endeavours and Punashcha
This is the second time Manoj has been a guest performer for Punashcha, the first was in 2019 at The Bhavan, London. Now with everything being in the virtual environment, our celebration and this performance was also held virtually. Over the past month, Punashcha has also been proud to be able to host workshop sessions for its students with Manoj.
Punashcha School of Rabindra Sangeet is looking forward to further performances and collaborations with these talented artists in the future, both virtually, and physically in London!
